What's the difference between Microblading and Semi- Permanent Makeup?

This is a very common question and does seem to cause some confusion. They are essentially both methods of implanting pigment into the skin.  The main difference is that PMU is implanted with an electronic device (also referred to as the machine method) which is very similar to a conventional tattoo machine,  whereas Microblading is created using a manual hand tool with a blade similar to a scalpel.

Both PMU and Microblading can achieve natural results, however most people confuse hairstoke brows with microblading.  PMU can easily create crisp, fine, feather-like strokes.   PMU is more suitable for a greater range of skin types.  It can create a variety of brow styles, for example hairstroke, powder or ombré.

Results tend to last longer with PMU techniques as the pigment is implanted slightly deeper into the skin than with the manual microblading method.

How long does it last?

PMU can last up to 3-4 years however it is recommended that your PMU is topped up every 12 months to keep it looking fresh.

I want to book, so what happens now?

Once you have researched which method is right for you and have decided to proceed with permanent makeup,  please get in touch with me and I will find a convenient time for you to attend an initial consultation.

During this appointment we will discuss all options suitable for your skin type and face shape. I will spend time going through everything with you to ensure you feel completely confident in your decision.

At your permanent makeup consultation you will receive a patch test and can book your treatment date, which you will need to secure with a £50 non refundable deposit.

What to expect on the day

Prior to your appointment you will have been sent your consultation forms to fill out and submit online.

Upon arrival, I will go through these with you. You should allow 2 - 2.5 hours and wear comfortable clothes as you will be lying still for the duration of the treatment.  Please ensure that no alcohol or blood thinning agents have been taken prior to any procedure.  Once I have checked your forms your permanent makeup will be drawn on and colours chosen.  Only when you are completely ready and comfortable will your treatment begin.
