What is the difference between PMU & Microblading?

PMU is implanted with an electronic device whereas microblading is created using a manual hand tool.  A full explanation is provided on the About PMU page.

Why have Permanent Makeup?

There are many benefits to having permanent makeup.  The main reason is that it's a cost effective alternative tor standard makeup (PMU lasts anything from 1-4 years).  It's also a great solution for people who have sparse or fine hair or those undergoing chemotherapy or suffering with alopaecia.  In general it's a fantastic procedure for anyone who wants to look their best at all times.

How do I know what style brows will suit me?

At Bl-inked you will be offered a free consultation prior to your booking.  During this appointment we will discuss in detail the sort of look you want to go for, as well as analysing your skin type and face shape.  We will pre-draw on the brows to give you an idea on shape and style and will also colour match you.  This will give you a great indication on what they will look like after your treatment.

How long does the treatment take?

You are asked to allow roughly 3 hours per treatment for PMU.  Whilst this is a an estimate, we will not rush you.  Everyone's skin is different and treatment length can vary depending on the individual.

What is the 4-6 week top-up?

The PMU procedure takes 2 appointments to ensure you have full pigment coverage.  A lot of people who are new to PMU will also err on the side of caution when agreeing pigment colour.  Pigment colour can fade from 40-70% after your initial healing period.  During your second appointment, we will discuss colour changes and any alterations required, for example you might want to make your brows slightly thicker etc.

We allow 4-6 weeks between appointments to allow the skin to fully heal and true pigmentation to have established in the skin.

How long do they take to heal?

Your PMU procedure will take roughly 4-6 weeks to heal fully.  You will go through this healing process again after your second appointment.

Will it hurt?

Everyone has their own pain threshold however a topical anaesthetic is applied before and during your treatment to minimise any discomfort.  Some people say that it often feels like a slight scratch sensation or tingling in the area being worked on.

Does it look natural?

Yes absolutely! Your brows or lips will look quite intense for the initial healing period of around 1 week, however after this time, they will appear very soft and subtle.
